Definition
Selection of a location from the list of proposed locations when an unique or incomplete location name is entered in the appropriate field.
Use
Your entry in this field controls the system reaction when the entry made in a field, where the system expects an IATA location to be entered, corresponds with more than one matching IATA location. For example, if you entered 'London in the location field.
The system does not know whether you want to travel to the London, England (LON), London (LOZ) in Kentucky (USA), or to London (YXU) in Ontario, Canada. In addition to this, there are also different aiports in London, UK, for example London Heathrow (LHR) or London Gatwick (LGW).
The IATA locations LON, LOZ and YXU will definitely always be displayed for selection by the system, however the individual airports (LHR) and (LGW) do not necessarily have to offered as choices. You decide whether or not to display these entries by making the
appropriate setting in this field.
Dependencies
Specific relationships are set up between the different IATA locations so that the airports London Heathrow (LHR) and London Gatwich (LGW) are linked to the reference location (LON).
Example
' ' Only reference locations will be displayed. (Example: LON, LOZ and YXU)
'X' All locations will be displayed (Example: As above plus LGW and LHR)
'Y' If the reference location for a related location is an airport, the referencing location will be displayed. If the reference location for a related location is not an airport, the referencing locations will not be displayed. in the example given above, this setting would mean that by entering 'london', only location LON will be displayed for London, England (LHR - London Heathrow, LGW - London Gatwick, and so on) will not be displayed. However if the user enters 'Houston', both HOU (Houston Hobby) and IAH (internation Airport Houston) will be displayed, even though HOU is the reference location. Functionally, this is not actually required as a flight availability query from Paris (PAR) to Houston (HOU) will also display flights that terminate at the destination airport IAH.
