Definition

The account group is a classifying feature within the G/L account master records. The account group is a required entry.

The account group determines the fields for the entry screens if you create or change a master record in the company code. The account group also determines in which number interval the account number must be.

Use

When copying a consolidation chart of accounts from consolidation (EC-CS), the same account group is assigned to each account of the group chart of accounts. After copying the consolidation chart of accounts, you can define additional account groups and assign the newly created accounts to these account groups.

The assignment of account groups and the settings for screen control per account group become important if you want to post directly from a company code to the accounts of the group chart of accounts. In this case, you must also set up the accounts in the affected company code.

Procedure

Enter an account group. If this account group does not exist, the system automatically creates it.
