Documentation
Definition
Indicates whether the system searches for valid condition records by checking the document header data first.
Use
This function serves as a performance enhancement. It determines whether the system makes a preliminary search for condition records using header data only. The preliminary search identifies the condition records that are then worth searching using item data. The function has no effect on the outcome of the search for a condition record. It just speeds up the search. It only makes sense to use this function for condition records where the key includes a combination of header and item data (for example, a customer-material discount)
Procedure
You can evaluate whether to use the pre-access function by taking the following factors into account:
- The average number of items in a document (the higher the number of items, the more benefit from this function)
- The probability of the system finding valid records when it searches using the header data (the lower the probability, the more benefit from this function - see example below)
Example
During pricing, you use a customer-material discount. The condition records you create are based on customer data from the document header and material data from each item in the document. However, only 2% of your customers qualify for the discount. In other words, in 98% of cases, the system would not find a valid condition record, regardless of which items a document contains. In this case, it makes sense for the system to carry out a preliminary search using header data.
