Definition
In engineer-to-order environments with a nonvaluated project stock, selecting this indicator has the following effects:
- Work in process can be calculated separately for the following orders assigned to a WBS element:
- Manufacturing orders
- Internal orders without revenue
- Orders without revenue in Service Management (maintenance orders, etc.)
- Results analysis can be performed separately for the following orders:
- Internal orders with revenue
- Orders with revenue in Service Management
Use
This indicator is only relevant in engineer-to-order environments if you are using a nonvaluated project stock. It is of particular importance if you are engaging in cross-company production.
For the system to interpret the indicator, a results analysis key must be specified on the WBS element to which the order is assigned, or on the billing element above that WBS element. If this requirement is not met, results analysis data for the order is always calculated regardless of whether the indicator is selected.
If the indicator is selected, the determining factor is whether or not there is a results analysis key in the order assigned to the WBS element.
- If the order does not have a results analysis key, the actual data (and possibly the plan data) for the order are included in results analysis for the WBS element. Work in process is calculated and settled through the WBS element.
- If the order has a results analysis key, the system creates results analysis data for the order through WIP calculation or results analysis. Settlement is through the order.
If the indicator is not selected, results analysis data for the orders is calculated through results analysis for the WBS element.
If you are engaging in cross-company production in an engineer-to-order environment with a nonvaluated project stock, you should select this indicator. In this case, specify a results analysis key in the orders assigned to the WBS element. You can define this results analysis key as a separate default value for each order type (see also: Define Default Values for Order Types (PP und CO)).
Dependencies
The indicator Calculate WIP for Internal and Service Orders w/o Revenue is only relevant if the internal and service orders without revenue are not assigned to a WBS element. If the internal and service orders without revenue are assigned to a WBS element, the setting of the Orders in engineer-to-order indicator takes precedence.
