Documentation
Definition
Path by which goods or services reach the customer. Typical examples for distribution channels in publishing would be wholesaling, direct sales (subscriptions) or bookshops.
Use
You can define data on customers and products for each sales organization and distribution channel. Within one sales organization, you can supply a particular customer via several different distribution channels.
One distribution channel can be assigned to one or more sales organizations. If you work with a series of sales organizations, each of them can use the same distribution channel, such as wholesaling.
Note
You can also assign one or more divisions defined for the sales organization to each combination of sales organization and distribution channel. For example, you could assign the divisions newspapers and magazines to the distribution channel 'wholesaling'.
A combination of sales organization, distribution channel and division is termed a sales area.
