Definition
Code indicating the version, release, subrelease and industry identifier of the EDI standard being used. Positions 1-3, version number; positions 4-6, release and subrelease level of version; positions 7-12, industry or trade association identifier (optionally assigned by user).
The Functional Group Envelope comprises a Functional Group Header Segment (GS) and a Functional Group Trailer Segment (GE). This envelope segregates the transaction sets of this envelope to direct the incoming transaction sets contained in the envelope to the appropriate application within the company. If used in this manner, with the proper utilization of the Application Sender and Receiver Codes, the transaction sets can be directed to the required application for further processing.
