Definition

The postal code evaluation area groups individual postal codes, postal code intervals, countries or country intervals in one area. This area is then used in a variety or statistics programs as the basis for summarization or exploding data at area level.

When determining the postal code evaluation area for an (order) address, the system tries first to assign the postal code in the address to a postal code evaluation area, first with a single value, then with a postal code interval, then a single country and finally a country interval.
