Definition

Unit of measure used to specify material stock. The system converts all quantities specified using other units of measure (alternative units of measure) into the basic unit of measure.

In inventory management, the basic unit of measure is the same as the stockkeeping unit.

In IS-M/AM, this unit of measure needs to be classified as -ZT- (time).

Dependencies

Since all data updates are performed in the basic unit of measure, it is particularly important that you make the relevant specifications as regards converting alternative units of measure. A quantity specified using an alternative unit of measure can only be displayed exactly if the correct number of decimal places is available. You should therefore note the following where possible:

• The basic unit of measure is the most precise.
• Conversions of alternative units of measure to the basic unit of measure should only result in simple decimal fractions (as opposed to 1/3 = 0.333...).
