Documentation
Definition
The update group is a controlling element within the update definition which is used to ensure that the various business transactions in the various applications can have a standard influence on the statistical update in the Logistics Information System (LIS).
Use
Within an application, a business transaction or a group of business transactions are assigned to one update group. This update group determines the fields which are created for statistics.
The type of assignment and the determining organizational elements vary from application to application.
Examples
In sales processing the following elements determine the update group:
- Sales organization
- Distribution channel
- Division
- A statistics group from the sales document
- The item type
- A group of customers
- A group of booking units
Procedure
In sales processing a distinction is made between "standard" sales and so called credit memos. These different business types are identified using different sales document types.
You want to save order quantities from the various business types in various statistics fields in the <DS:GLOS.information structure>information structure For a "standard" sale, it is only the associated statistical fields which can be updated and not the statistical fields, which the return quantities cumulate and vice versa.
You should use two update groups to control these different forms of update.
For example assign the update group "800021" to the sales document types which represent "standard sales" .
Assign the sales document types which represent credit memo processing to the update group "800024".
If you define update rules for the key figures of an information structure, you should always do this with reference to an update group.
If you define the update rules for your information structure with reference to the update group "800021" you should only define the key figures which are to be updated from "standard" sales.
However, with reference to update group "800024" you should only define the key figures, which are to be updated from return processes.
Key figures which are to be updated from both business transactions, should be assigned whrn defining the two update groups.
