Definition
This field enables you to determine whether the system is to attempt to write the shipping documents created during a background job to an existing spool dataset (or spool request) or begin a new spool request for each job.
It is only possible to attach the documents to an existing dataset if the data in the Name, Output device, Number of copies and Format fields matches that in the existing spool request. The existing spool request must also be one that is not yet completed. (This takes place, for example, when the spool request is released for output.) If the system does not find a suitable spool request, it generates a new one.
You can decide whether to select this field or leave it blank. These entries have the following meaning:
'X' : Generate a new spool request
' ' : Find a suitable spool request for attachment
If you select the parameter, the number assigned by the system to the background job is placed in the field 'Department on cover sheet', which is also used as the split criterion for generating new spool datasets. In this case, you must accept that the system would print the number of the background job instead of the department on a cover sheet.
