Indicator for usage of the petty rule
Use
Certain packaging types can be subject to a petty rule with recycling partners. In the standard system REA applies the petty rule used by the DSD. It is however possible to specify alternative calculation rules in the Petty rule field.
With the DSD, packaging made up of packaging combinations or compound packaging that contains less than x weight percent secondary components can be settled according to the price of the main material. The weight percent of a main component can vary from one recycling partner to another:
(for example 95% main component + 5% secondary component).
Example
Application of the petty rule for the packaging combination 'spray can' (Recycling rule 95% main component + 5% secondary components).
Main component: Tinplate
Secondary component: Plastic cap, plastic actuator button, dip
tube, aluminium crimping
a. If the total of all secondary components is less than 5 weight
percent, the packaging combination can be settled according to
the main component, tinplate.
b. If the total of all secondary components is more than 5 weight
percent, all manually separable components, (cap, actuator) are
calculated according to the price for plastic. If the remaining
dip tube and the aluminium crimping exceed 5 weight percent,
calculation is on the basis of the price for tinplate. Otherwise
settlement is according to the fraction-specific prices.
