Definition

Key by means of which documents are differentiated in the REA Declaration System.

Use

The document type and document category enable you immediately identify the kind of declaration. The document type is indicated in the declaration header and applies to the entire document. Document types are set up on the basis of the contractual agreement with the recycling partner. An adjustment document type is also assigned to each document type to enable an adjustment document to be generated in the event of cancellation.

Example

Recycling partner DXD expects the contractually agreed submission of a final annual declaration in company code 1000. To this end, you set up the document type 10 with the document category E and the periodicity J for the company code 1000 as the main document type. In addition, to accommodate cancellations, you set up the cancellation document type 11 with the document category N and assign this to the document type 10 as the adjustment document type.
