Documentation
Definition
In External Services Management (MM-SRV) transactions, the Tax Tariff Code field contains the generic service type. For example, the field is visible in the service master record and the service-entry sheet.
Use
The system uses the generic service type to determine service-tax rates and official service types. You can maintain tax rates with the generic service type as a dynamic key parameter. The system can determine official service types based on their assignment to a generic service type. If you assign different official service types to one generic service type, then the generic service type serves as grouping parameter for service types.
Dependencies
Example
- Scenario 1
If a service master is maintained for a particular service, you can assign a generic service type to it. The system can then derive tax rates and official service types via the generic service type. Alternatively, the system can derive the tax rate and official service type directly from the activity number, which identifies the service master record.
- Scenario 2
If you enter free-text service lines (that is, there is no service master), then you enter the generic service type in the purchase order, and you can assign the service tax-rate to the generic service type in the relevant Customizing activity (for example, ISS tax rates). Together with the tax jurisdiction code, the generic service type determines the official service type for reporting. There is no one-to-one relationship between the generic service type and the official service type.
- Scenario 3
If you have to maintain a large number of official service types, you can use the generic service type to group official service types that have the same tax rate assigned. Note that free-text services with different official service types in the same municipio cannot have the same generic service type, since it would then not be possible for the system to determine the official service type for reporting.
