Typically you enter the revaluation method in the material inflation class, which you define in Customizing for Materials Management (MM), under Valuation and Account Assignment -> Balance Sheet Valuation Procedures -> Configure Replacement Cost Procedure (Inflation) -> Maintain Material Inflation Classes.
If you enter a revaluation method directly in the material master record, this value overrides that of the material inflation class assigned to the material.
