Revenue recognition process: Revenue recognition category for the item category
Use
The new revenue distribution and partner settlement processes use revenue recognition functions to manage G/L account postings.
An item category that is relevant to revenue recognition must exist in the order item for revenue recognition to be performed. This relevance is specified using the revenue recognition category (RRREL) in the item category. The revenue recognition category controls when revenue recognition can be performed. Revenue for the item can for example be recognized once the invoice has been created (revenue recognition category 'E', service-related, billing-dependent) or as a result of business transactions such as publication of an ad (revenue recognition category 'B', service-related, order-dependent).
The only admissible revenue recognition category for item categories for the service item type is revenue recognition category 'E' (service-related, billing-dependent). This revenue recognition category is defined by the system if you are using item categories with revenue recognition relevance 'B' (service-related, order-dependent).
