Definition

Displays the media product family to which the higher-level media product is assigned.

Definition

The media product hierarchy is used to structure media product master data using the following hierarchy levels:

  • Media product family (highest level)
  • Media product (middle level, belongs to a media product)
  • Media issue (lowest level, belongs to a media product)

Use

Use the respective maintenance functions to create the master data records for the individual hierarchy levels. Enter the assignment to an object (material) of the next highest hierarchy level in the master record for a media product.

Assignments in a media product hierarchy are unique. A media product can only be assigned to one media product family.

Dependencies

Objects that belong to the same media product hierarchy can have the same ID code.

Media Sales and Distribution (IS-M/SD) and Advertising Management (IS-M/AM) functions require product master records to be structured in a media product hierarchy.

Example

Products from a newspaper publisher (media issues) that are actually delivered in a region belong to a higher level regional issue (media product). Various regional issues belong to a higher-level title (media product family). The media product can be an object in a subscription order. Media issues can be part of distribution logistics.
