Definition

The element type determines how the value of a formula element is determined.

The following types are available:

• Cost element interval: All items with a cost element from a defined cost element interval or cost element group are evaluated.
• Characteristic: The characteristic valuation of the first usage of a characteristic is determined.
• Item category: All items of a defined item category are evaluated.
• Pricing key: The result of the formula of a pricing key is determined. This enables you to nest formulas of different pricing keys and create formulas of any length, since individual formulas are limited to a maximum of 255 characters.

The system evaluates all subordinate costing nodes in the subtree of the cost estimate containing the aggregated item. With the element type Characteristic, the characteristic is also included if it is in the same costing node as the aggregated item.

If you specify a particular costing model in the definition of the formula element, only that element is evaluated (plus any costing nodes subordinate to it).
