The ID code area does not contain a symbol to separate the ID code area and number, if this is required.

Dependencies

The Customizing settings for the ID code type determine whether or not the ID code area is used to check the ID code.

Example

If the identification code is an ISBN (International Standard Book Number), the ID code area represents the publisher. The publisher is assigned this code by a national or regional ISBN agency.
