Documentation
Definition
Sort key for grouping object within one object category. This key is very general and is not further defined by IRM. Examples of object types are #sales order#, #accounting document# or #invoice#.
Use
Polices for an object type can be created in different categories, for example, retention rules or residence rules. The policy categories that are supported are defined in the Customizing for the object type. There the object type also decides which fields and start times it offers in its policies.
An object type can also offer the option of inheriting rules (taking over the property values of a higher level object). For example, a change document can inherit the rules of the object instance for which it logs the changes.
