Definition
This field controls whether the automatic material update process in the IE4N function should be allowed or not.
Normally, you cannot install an equipment with reference to a reservation if the material numbers do not match. However, you may want to install equipment with materials that deviate from the original planned material in the reservation. This is especially important if you use MPN interchangeability, where it is part of the process that material numbers might change from planning to execution.
If the automatic material update process is allowed, the system permits different materials during equipment installations and the reservation is updated automatically with the new material number in the background.
Procedure
Set the indicator to:
- Not Allowed (Error Message) if you want the system to behave as standard.
Any attempt to use an equipment together with a reservation with different materials is rejected and an error message is displayed on the screen. In this case, the installation cannot be posted.
- Allowed (Warning or No Message) if you want to activate the process to update the material in the reservation.
This is subject to a Business Add-In (BAdI) method implementation (Activate MM Posting Without Update of PM Structure during Install/Remove). If the BAdI method does not raise a problem, the system updates the material number in the reservation with the one from the equipment. System behavior is also subject to the BAdI implementation on how to react to Warning or No message. In SAP's default implementation, a confirmation dialog box is output for both settings.
Note: If you choose to allow the process, the system always updates the reservation on database immediately. This cannot be reversed, even if you later decide not to post the equipment installation in IE4N.
