Documentation
Note: As of Release 4.72 this field is obsolete.
Definition
Permitted coverage type that should be extended.
Use
In this line you can store a coverage type that should extend another permitted coverage type. In the Extended Coverage Type field you specify the coverage type that should be extended.
Note: The coverage type that should be extended is referred to hereinafter as "extended coverage type". Conversely, the coverage type that extends another coverage type is referred to as the "extending coverage type".
The extended coverage type is enhanced to include the benefit types of the extending coverage type. With an extending coverage type you can specify higher limits or lower deductibles, for example. You define the extent to which limits, deductibles, and benefit types of the extended coverage type should be extended in IMG activity Configure Benefit Type Trees at the level of limits per permitted benefit type.
In practice, the concept of coverage extension is used in connection with an additional premium payment. If the policyholder makes an additional premium payment, he/she is entitled to additional, extended benefits.
Dependencies
Such a coverage extension depends on the following:
- You can only store a coverage type as being an extending coverage type if the Extending CovType indicator is set. You set this indicator in IMG activity Define Coverage Types.
- Conversely, you can only extend such a coverage type and specify this in the Extended CovType field if this indicator is not set.
- The extended coverage type must be assigned to this policy product as a permitted coverage type.
- Both the extended coverage type and the extending coverage type must exist in the contract.
- If you have specified a country and/or a region in this line for the coverage type, this coverage type cannot be used as an extending coverage type.
- If the Always Covered indicator or a country and/or a region has been specified for this coverage type, this coverage type cannot be used as an extending coverage type.
