Documentation
Definition
Uniquely identifies a diagnosis within a catalog.
Use
The ICD-10 catalog contains categories with 3-character codes (such as code A00 in categories A00-A09) and subcategories with 4-character codes (such as A00.0).
If you want to configure the ICD-10 code system in greater detail to meet your own requirements, you should use 6 characters and more, because these character lengths do not exist in ICD-10. You can also use 5-character lengths if these are not used in ICD-10. The enhancements and changes must match the default 3 to 5-character length codes, as otherwise it will not be possible to compare codes/IDs.
