Definition
Contains a hierarchy of the permitted benefit types .
Note:
A benefit type tree can have more than one upper-level node. This means that it is possible to group several trees within a benefit type tree.
Use
Benefit type trees can be assigned as follows:
- You can assign benefit type trees with a Mixed category to a coverage type in IMG activity Configure Policy Products and to a subclaim type in IMG activity Configure Internal Claim Types.
The following rules have to be adhered to:
- With benefit type trees that are assigned to a coverage type in IMG activity Configure Policy Products, the system only reads those benefit types belonging to the Compensation category.
- With benefit type trees that are assigned to a subclaim type in IMG activity Configure Internal Claim Types, the system only reads those benefit types that belong to the Expenses category.
- You assign benefit type trees belonging to the Compensation category to a permitted coverage type in IMG activity Configure Policy Products.
The following rules have to be adhered to:
- If the benefit types of the benefit type tree are to be valid for just one permitted coverage type, assign the benefit type tree to this coverage type.
- If the benefit types of the benefit type tree are to be valid across coverage types, assign the benefit type tree to the policy product at the Version of Policy Product level.
- In this way you can define cross-coverage type deductibles, for example.
- You assign benefit type trees belonging to the Expenses category to a subclaim type in IMG activity Configure Internal Claim Types.
The following rules have to be adhered to:
- If the benefit types of the benefit type tree are to be valid for just one permitted subclaim type, assign the benefit type tree to this subclaim type.
- If the benefit types of the benefit type tree are to be valid for the claim header, in other words across subclaim types, create an entry without specifying a subclaim type. Leave the subclaim type field empty, and define a benefit type tree for this entry. This is valid for the claim header.
Note: The Claims Management system continues to support benefit type trees (regardless of category) that were defined in IMG activity Configure Internal Claim Types before Release 4.72. First of all the system checks whether a benefit type tree has been defined in IMG activity Define Policy Products. If the system does not find any such benefit type tree, it uses the benefit type tree defined for the subclaim type in IMG activity Configure Internal Claim Types. The benefit types belonging to the Compensation category are also read from here.
