Object that contains an amount or a number.

The SAP system differs between the following cost items:

• Direct cost item
• Dependent cost item
• Additional cost item

Use

Dependencies

Direct cost items are provided by the SAP system during data collection. These cost items are usually valuated, in other words assigned to a value.

You define dependent cost items to depend relatively or absolutely on a base cost item. The cost items mentioned above can also be base cost items.

Additional cost items are independent cost items (such as a bonus).

Dependent and additional cost items are non-valuated cost items that the system valuates (in other words assigns values to) during the planning run in accordance with Customizing settings.

You can assign cost items to wage types via symbolic accounts.
