The interest due is assigned to a business area by specifying the business area, that is, all postings are made to this business area.
Alternatively, you can select the business area breakdown contained in the documents to be processed. In this case, you post to the respective business area. Otherwise, you always post to business area blank.
Supplementary Documentation - GSBER 0006
It allows the interest to be posted to a particular business area. If you do not enter a business area, you post to business area blank.
Supplementary Documentation - GSBER 0007
Only specify this business area if you want to assign it for all line items for bank accounts and bank sub-accounts for every check in this lockbox file or every posting line on the bank account and the bank sub-accounts.

The business area you specify here can be posted to in the company code assigned to it.
During automatic creation of consolidation units for business consolidation, the system interprets the company code/business area assignments from the Financial Accounting (FI) organizational units and during integrated data transfer to Consolidation.
If you implement business area consolidation, you can specify during your consolidation preparations that the assignments you enter here are checked at time of posting.
Supplementary Documentation - GSBER 0009

A cost center requires a business area allocation in dependency of the company code it is allocated to. If a balance sheet or P&L is to be created for each business area for the company code used (see definition of the company code), you have to enter a business area.
You can change this field for each fiscal year. For example, you can change the field content for a new fiscal year.
The data in this field is always time-based.
Supplementary Documentation - GSBER 0101
Select option BUSAREA
The company code can be divided into freely
definable logical sub-areas via the business area.
Supplementary Documentation - GSBER 0140
The business area is determined via the division defined in the material master record.
Supplementary Documentation - GSBER 0145
Using the business area allocation function in the asset master record, the system determines the business area affected for each asset posting. This is particularly necessary when business area balance sheets have to be produced.
Supplementary Documentation - GSBER 0200
You must specify the business area if you are working in the project system with networks.
When you create a network, the business area is taken from the MRP controller data, if it has not already been determined from the following objects:
- the reference network (if you have copied a network)
- the WBS element assigned to it
- the project definition.
Supplementary Documentation - GSBER 0600
You cannot change the business area once costs have been posted to the order.
Supplementary Documentation - GSBER 1008
Use this field together with the Company code field, to identify a controlling area for the object you are working with. (Controlling areas determine which cost centers can be assigned to objects.)
NOTE: If you complete the Company code and Business area fields, it is not necessary to also complete the Personnel area and Personnel subarea fields.
In CREATE mode either:
- type in the appropriate code, or
- request a list of business areas and make a selection by either:
. pressing F4, or
. clicking on the down arrow
In CHANGE mode, enter a different business area by typing over the existing one, or by requesting a list using the methods outlined above.
Supplementary Documentation - GSBER 5000
It is possible to make changes at a later date to the assignment of one or more cost centers to a business area during a fiscal year.
To do so, the following conditions must be met:
- The new company code has the same currency as the old company code.
Currency translation is not supported at present.
- Only planning data has been posted for the fiscal year in question.
- The cost center is not assigned to an asset, a work center, or an HR master record.
At present, the system does not check whether the cost center is assigned to an HR master record.
