Definition
That part of the forecast model which indicates the historical level of the forecast model.
Depending on the forecast model used, the system adds a trend value to the basic value or multiplies the basic value by the seasonal index.
The system first calculates the basic value on the basis of historical data and then updates this value at the end of every period using the alpha factor.
