Documentation
Definition
The sponsored class represents the sponsor's expense and revenue classification.
Use
The sponsored class is used to group expenses and revenues in order to satisfy the sponsor's view and reporting needs. It is also used to specify in detail which expenses are relevant for billing and for indirect cost calculation.
If Grants Management (GM) is integrated with Funds Management (FM), the sponsored class provides the link with a commitment item so that budget can be transferred between the two modules.
The assignment tool should be used to derive the sponsored class during actual postings.
Note
If one or more sponsored classes in the grant master are flagged as IDC-relevant (excluding the IDC expense class configured for the company code), the IDC expense class is inserted automatically. If no class is marked as IDC-relevant (excluding the expense class) and there is no budget on this class, the IDC expense class is removed automatically.
