Documentation
Definition
The budget phase is used as an attribute for existing versions. In the Grants Management context, there are the following basic budget phases:
- Plan for Grant Proposal
- Refers to the type of budget that a proposal would include. It is the representation of planned expenses and revenues whenever a proposal is created. If the grant is planned in CO or in a budget preparation system, it could potentially be brought into Grants Management and stored in a version containing this phase.
- Plan for Grant Application
- This is a step further in the budgeting process. This phase of budget is not yet the final version and is, therefore, still considered a plan. Whenever the sponsor sends the application, this budget phase and the corresponding version will be the ones getting an approval.
- Budget for Grant Award
- This the final stage in the process. As soon as the sponsor awards the contract, this budget phase will become the real and consumable budget.
Use
All three phases of budget are tightly linked to the Budget Versions, the Budget Distribution Periods and the Budget Document Types.
