Definition

Types are used to model the behavior of the budgeting process and to classify the different kinds of documents that become either the plan or the budget for a grant. These are the attributes that distinguish a document type:

• Generic description
• Budget phase
• Funding type
• Number range
• Budget status
• Financing object type
• Automatic Approval indicator

Use

A document type determines, together with the version, which budget phase is being modified. When you enter a budget document, the document type and the version - through the budget phase and the budget status - determines which budget validity periods are brought up from the grant master into the screen. These could be either the time intervals for planning a proposal, planning an application or budgeting the final award.

The document type also determines whether the budget document is relevant for cost sharing.
