Definition
Defines the budget entered in the Grants Management (GM) budgeting workbench as a 'net' or 'total' amount for the total grant budget (for example: Direct budget, Indirect Cost budget and Cost Sharing budget = Total Grant Budget).
Use
- If the "Net" setting is selected, the budget entered in the Direct Amount field represents the Grant's Direct cost budget. The budget needed for Indirect Costs and/or Cost Sharing will be added to the Grant's Direct cost budget to calculate the Total Grant budget. The Total Grant budget would be calculated as follows:
- Total Grant budget = Direct Cost budget + Indirect Cost budget + Cost Sharing budget
- If the "Total" setting is selected, the budget entered in the Direct Amount field represents the Total Grant budget. The budget needed for Indirect Costs and/or Cost Sharing will be subtracted from the Total Grant budget to calculate the Direct Cost budget. The Direct Cost budget is calculated as follows:
- Direct Cost budget = Total Grant budget - Indirect Cost budget - Cost Sharing budget
In both cases, the relevant amount for ledger postings (including availability control) is the net amount.
