Use

If this flag is set, documents of this type can be maintained and displayed anywhere (e.g. in all customizing projects).

Document types indicated as "global" do not need to be explicitly assigned to a project. Non-global document types must be assigned to the project or projects in which they are to be used in project management in customizing. A document type can be assigned to one or more projects.
