Definition

Grouping criterion for grouping different ledgers of the Average Daily Balance (ADB) application component. The ledgers are identified as daily ledgers, monthly ledgers, and monthly average ledgers.

The ledger environment is used in the Average Daily Balance and Multi Currency Accounting components.

Use

In a ledger environment, you assign a daily ledger and monthly ledger to each other. The system updates the ledgers together and they can be used, for example, to represent the same accounting standard.

The ADB component uses the daily ledger to calculate the average account balance.

The average daily balances are saved in the monthly average ledger.

The MCA component uses the ledger environment to execute the following processes on a daily basis:

P&L Processes:

• P&L Lock
• P&L Close
• P&L Transformation

Valuation Processes:

• FX Position Account Valuation
• Monetary Asset Revaluation
• Foreign Currency Restatement

The system posts the generated postings in a ledger group, which contains the daily ledger and monthly ledger that is defined in the ledger environment in Customizing activity Edit Ledger Settings.

Dependencies

Example

In Multi Currency Accounting (MCA), you can transfer balances and execute foreign currency restatement on a daily basis for every ledger environment.

Average Daily Balance (ADB) uses the daily ledger to calculate the average daily balance for each monthly ledger.
