Definition
The following information only applies for parallel valuation areas, and is not relevant for the operative valuation area.
In Customizing, you can assign a currency (the "valuation currency") to any combination of valuation area and accounting code. Each accounting code is also assigned to a company code, and therefore to the local currency of that company code. As a result, the valuation currency may differ from the local currency for certain combinations of valuation area and accounting code. In such cases, the system does not update the key figures in local currency in the parallel books.
In order to report key figures in local currency when this situation arises, the system translates the key figures affected from the valuation currency to the local currency during runtime.
The currency translation type in this field specifies the criteria to be used for the currency translation (such as the rate type, date reference). If you leave this field blank, the key figures are not converted, and all the key figures in display currency are zero.
If you enter a currency translation type, local currency is calculated in exactly the same way as for currency translation into the display currency.
