You can enter a function module here for a given event. "Template" modules are available to you for the various events. You should copy these when creating a new format in order to obtain the appropriate function module interface. Template module names are constructed as follows, "FI_PAYMEDIUM_SAMPLE_nn" with "nn" standing for the event.
