The external reference is used for the ID of the funding agreement between the EU and the region to be funded.
It is linked to the financing source type and created in the IMG activity Define Financing Source Type.

Use

If the external reference is defined in Customizing, it is automatically linked to a financing source when a financing source type is linked to it.

Note
You can overwrite the external reference if necessary.
