Definition
Contains a reference to the first document in a document chain (such as a purchase requisition, purchase order, or earmarked funds document).
Use
The commitment string is primarily used for technical purposes. It contains the document number, document line item number, and if applicable, the accounting line number of the first document. Each document in the document chain has the same commitment string value. The system uses it to determine if a payment is for something that was delivered or not delivered. The system also uses it to determine if a goods receipt was paid.
