Use
The commitment item category is used for differentiating commitment and actual values from other components as well as differentiating budget values in revenues and expenditures. These are documented accordingly in the FM information system.
You can create one or more commitment item hierarchies for each commitment item category. The commitment item category is identical in all commitment items within a hierarchy.

Creating Commitment Items in FM Area/Fiscal Year
When creating a commitment item within a commitment item hierarchy, the system automatically copies the item category of the superior commitment item.
Changing the Item Category
You can only change the item category as long as no budget values or actual values were posted on the commitment item.
You can only change the item category in the master record of the top commitment item of a commitment item category. The system automatically copies the change for subordinate commitment items.
You can freely define the commitment item category for commitment items not assigned to any commitment item hierarchy.
