Definition
The period of use determines the intervals at which a condition is to be calculated by the system. You require the period of use to create conditions in the application.
In the case of transaction charges, the period of use specifies the period for which a counter is to be considered (for free items, for example). This period ends on the day of the transaction.
Use
The system determines the period of use based on the following rules:
- The start date for the first period of use is the start date of the settlement period (applies only to settlement conditions and not to transaction charges).
- The period of use can be the same as or shorter than (but not longer than) the settlement period.
- The settlement period must be a whole number multiple (not fraction) of the period of use.
If you have configured in Customizing for the application the use of use periods in the same way as settlement periods and the condition has the date category "calculation" or "due date", the system determines the period of use from the calculation rules or from the rules for due dates in the condition. If the condition has the date category "calculation" and "due date", the system determines the period of use from the calculation rules.
Dependencies
The period of use is part of the settings for condition determination.
The system ignores the period of use entered for settlement charge conditions if the charge calculation method is initial.
You can define additional periods of use in Customizing under Edit Usage Periods.
Example
Permitted:
- Settlement period: 3 months (quarter)
Use period: 3 months - Settlement period: 3 months (quarter)
Use period: 1 month
Not permitted:
- Settlement period: 3 months (quarter)
Use period: 2 months - Settlement period: 3 months (quarter)
Use period: 6 months
