Definition

Specifies which date of the transaction is to be used as the first date, based on the date category.

The system displays the field in the following date categories:

  • Calculation
  • Clearing
  • Adjustment
  • Fixing
  • Maturity

Use

On the Time Periods tab page in the RefDatStartdate field, you can specify the contract date to which the period end is to refer.

Depending on the application (such as Account Management (FS-AM)), you have the following selection options:

  • At the contract start
  • At the start of the fixed interest period

The system uses the start of the inpayment agreement for payment conditions.

The system uses the start of the fixed interest period for price conditions.

  • Start of the settlement period
  • Start of the term

The system uses the agreement start for loans.

This allows you to adjust the frequency to the transaction, particularly for standard conditions with periodic date updates.

Dependencies

If you fill this field, you are not allowed to make an entry in the First Calculation Day field.

To align the periods with the calendar months, you fill the Key Date field.

You can define the minimum length of the first period by making entries in the Shift No. Units and Shift Unit fields. If the minimum time period is not reached by the key date, the system extends the first period

If you have chosen the contract start, and the repetition period is longer than one month, the system adds the periods as of the first key date after the contract start (and not as of the first key date after the first repetition period).

Example

The time period must be based on the fixed interest period of the contract and calculated once a month. Make the following settings in condition editing:

  • On the Time Periodstab page, enter 1 month in the Repetition Period and Repetition Unit fields
  • Leave the First Calculation Day field blank. Then select the value for the start of the fixed interest period in the RefdatStartdate field.

The start of the fixed interest period for the contract is 10/06/08. The means that the first calculation period is from 10/06/08 until 11/06/08, the next period is from 11/06/08 until 12/06/08, and so on.

If you want to align the periods with the calendar months, you can enter a key date, for example, the 10th of the month. This results in an adjusted first period from 10/06/08 until 10/10/08. The next period is from 10/010/08 to 11/08/08, and so on.

You want to define a minimum period of 7 days for the first period. Enter 7 days in the Shift No. Units and Shift Unit fields. If the minimum time period is not reached by the key date of 10/10/08, the system extends the first period The first calculation period is from 10/06/08 to 11/10/08, the next period is from 11/10/08 to 12/10/08, and so on.
