Use
An upload method defines all information needed to upload, interpret and write data into Consolidation as described in the following:
- Which data is entered in a dialog box and which is read from the file.
- Which fields are found in the file's header and, thus, apply to all of the succeeding data records.
- Which fields make up each of the identically structured data records.
- Whether each field has a fixed length or whether each field is recognizable by a field separator (such as a semi-colon ';' or a tab character).
- Which characters are used to indicate thousands in currency and decimal places.
- Which character indicates comments, that is, leads the data records that should not be interpreted.
- Whether to use the debit/credit sign in the item master records.
- Whether the reported values are cumulative or periodic.
- Whether missing breakdowns are to be substituted with default values, or whether an error message should be output.
- How to treat data that already exists in the totals database.
