Definition

A platform-independent name for a file which is to be stored in the file system.

Use

A definition of a logical filename for the consolidation unit permits the system to determine at runtime the actual filename of the physical file along with the directory in which it is located.

It is also allowed to define the physical file path of a text file directly instead of a logical file name.

Procedure

If applicable, you can define new logical filenames in Customizing for Consolidation. There you also define the allocation rule for the physical path of the file.

Examples

If the consolidation unit has a logical filename, you no longer need to explicitly enter a filename in the data monitor before starting data collection.
