Use
Select this indicator if you want to capitalize and then manually apply extraordinary amortization to any goodwill incurred during consolidation of investments.
Extraordinary amortization may be necessary, for example, when you manually perform an impairment test and discover that the fair value of goodwill is less than its book value.
Dependencies
In the following Customizing screens for consolidation of investments, you will be able to make global or method-specific definitions as to the method of amortization and the amortization items to be used.
In addition to extraordinary amortization, you can also choose ordinary amortization, periodic reduction, and direct elimination for treating goodwill. When multiple options are chosen, you must define in the C/I method which option is valid for each method.
