Definition
If you choose this option, currency translation checks if a reduction in the item's value occurred in the period. An average exchange rate is then calculated for the values of the prior period(s), which is then taken for the currency translation.
Example
The item x is observed:
Period LC LC cum. GC cum. Exchange Rate Average Exchange Rate
001 1000 1000 1500 1.5 1.5
002 1000 2000 3500 (a) 2.0 1.75 (b)
003 1000- 1000 1750 (c) 1.75
Explanations:
LC - value in local currency
cum. - cumulative
GC - value in group currency
(a) GC cum. = 1500 + 2000
(b) Average exchange rate = GC cum. / LC cum. = (1500 + 2000) / 2000 = 1.75
(c) GC cum. = 3500 - 1000 * 1.75
