Definition

You set the Tax Free Boundary indicator for any benefits plan which has a tax free threshold, above which plan payments become taxable. In Great Britain, payments into selected benefit plans are not totally tax free.

Therefore, you set this indicator for any benefits plans where payments into it are subject to taxation restrictions. The applicable tax threshold amount for each affected benefits plan is maintained in the respective IMG step Define Annual Tax Free Boundary for XXXX Plan (FLEX), in one of these five Customizing tables:

  • Define Annual Tax Free Boundary for Health Plan (FLEX)     (V_T74_FBN08_A)
  • Define Annual Tax Free Boundary for Insurance Plan (FLEX)         (V_T74_FBN08_B)
  • Define Annual Tax Free Boundary for Miscelleaneous Plan (FLEX)     (V_T74_FBN08_C)
  • Define Annual Tax Free Boundary for HolidayPlan (FLEX)     (V_T74_FBN08_D)
  • Define Annual Tax Free Boundary for Pension Plan (FLEX)     (V_T74_FBN08_E)

Example

Payments by an employee into a Personal Computer (PC) Plan, for example, are tax free up to an annual threshold of GBP 500 . Any PC Plan payments above this amount are taxable in the payroll. Therefore, for the PC plan, you must set theTax Free Boundary indicator in this IMG step, and also maintain the value GBP 500 in the IMG step: Define Annual Tax Free Boundary for Miscelleaneous Plan (FLEX) (V_T74_FBN08_C).
