Documentation
Definition
You use this field to define whether this particular benefits plan needs an options check. This check is a comparison between the previously enroled plan and the employee's selection for the next benefits year.
Set the Opt.Chk indicator for any benefits plans where you wish the system to check which plan options are valid for eligible employees in the coming year.
Example
Scenario 1: Health Plan
An employee is currently enroled in a Private Medical Insurance (PMI) Health Plan covering the employee and his family. For the upcoming benefits year, your organisation decides that in the benefits area to which this employee belongs, only employee PMI coverage will be available. You set the indicator Opt.Chk , meaning that the system will check which PMI options are valid for the employee in the coming year. The permitted PMI plan options are maintained in the IMG step Define Health Plan Option Jumping Setting (FLEX) (Customizing table: V_T74_FBN09_A). Therefore, setting this indicator means that a check is made for valid PMI options for the coming benefits year, which are stored in table V_T74_FBN09_A..
The employee can only enrol the PMI plan with the options contained in this Customizing table. If there is no PMI plan entry in table T74_FBN09_A, or you do not set the Opt.Chk indicator, all possible PMI options are valid for the employee in the coming benefits year.
Scenario 2: Insurance Plan
You set the Opt.Chk indicator for a given Life Insurance Plan. For the coming benefits year, your organisation decides that employees currently enroled in an insurance plan with the four-times salary option will only be allowed to increase their life insurance cover to five-times salary. However, no restriction is placed on decreasing the level of life cover, to two- or three-times salary. You have also previously maintained these three permitted options in the IMG step Define Insurance Plan Option Jumping Setting (FLEX).
When the employee enrols in the life insurance plan, a check is made in the customizing table V_T74_FBN09_B . He or she will only be able to enrol the life insurance plan with the three options you have maintained in this Customizing table.
