Documentation
Definition
The assignment mode specifies when automatic assignment should be performed by default.
Use
If you select assignment mode Central Program Run automatic assignment will only be performed when you run the corresponding program. This setting should be used if you have a centralized organizational approach where data selection and automatic assignment are run for all companies at the same time and the runtime of automatic assignment does not slow down your reconciliation process.
If you select assignment mode During Interactive Reconciliation you do not have to perform automatic assignment in a separate program run. The program will check whether data selection has been performed since the last time that data for the selected object group was assigned automatically. If so, the documents for that object group will be analyzed by the rules set up for automatic assignment and the assignments will be saved in the database. Therefore only documents that are actually analyzed by users will be assigned automatically and they will be analyzed in small packages. If the data volume of your intercompany reconciliation process is very large or the runtime for the automatic assignment program is very long this more flexible option may help you speed up your reconciliation process since you do not need to wait until all documents have been processed in a central program run.
Dependencies
If you select assignment mode During Interactive Reconciliation you can still run the automatic assignment program. This is recommended if you have any reporting which is based on data which has been classified as assigned or unassigned by automatic assignment. If you run the assignment program, interactive reconciliation will notice that the data has been analyzed already and automatic assignment will not be performed until data has been changed by data selection again.
If the data is locked when the user chooses an object group the automatic assignment rules will still be processed, however, the result will not be stored in the database at that time and the user will not be able to change any assignments until the locks have been released.
