Definition
The commuter rate takes into account the tax payer's expenses for journeys between their home and place of work.
These expenses are generally compensated by the transportation deduction (in accordance with § 57 (3) EStG). If certain conditions are met, the employee can take advantage of the commuter rate amounts in accordance with § 16 (1) clause 6 EStG. This is done by submitting an official form to the employer.
The commuter rate is considered an income-related expense and therefore represents a tax reduction.
Use
The values reflect the various scales for the partial and comprehensive commuter rate.
You can either select the value directly or use the following fields as input help. Using the Home - Place of Work (One Way) or Shortest Route Between Home and Place of Work fields and the corresponding pushbutton for adjusting entries, you can request the system to determine the applicable scale.
