Definition

Controls whether the data origin and data provider fields are to be retained for existing data records. For new data records, these fields remain empty.

If you do not set the indicator, the data origin and data provider fields are filled for each changed or new data record as follows:

  • In the Data origin field, the system enters the data origin set as default in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools in the IMG activity Specify Data Origin.
  • In the Data provider field, the system enters the data provider assigned to the authorization group to which the data record belongs in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools in the IMG activity Specify Authorization Groups.

Use

Each data record within the specification management component contains the fields Data origin and Data provider.

Dependencies

Each time the transaction for editing specifications is called, this indicator is not set as default.

If the indicator is set, it remains set until you carry out one of the following activities:

  • Exit the transaction
  • Deactivate the indicator

If you make changes during the transaction that affect the default data origin and specified data provider in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools, these changes are not taken into account.
