Definition
Specifies whether only single-level relationships (Contained directly only) or all composition relationships (Contained indirectly also) are taken into account when searching for specifications.
Examples
The specification A directly contains the specifications B with 10% and C with 90%. The specification C directly contains the specifications B with 10% and D with 90%: A | | ------- | | | | 10% 90% | | | | B C | | ------- | | | | 10% 90% | | | | B D
If you search for a specification that is supposed to contain the specification D and you set the radio button Cont. directly only, the system displays only the specification C as the result because only single-level composition relationships are taken into account and all others are ignored.
The specification D is, however, also contained in the specification A, indirectly via the specification C. If you search for a specification that is supposed to contain the specification D and you also set the Cont. indirectly also radio button, the specification C is displayed as the result as well as the specification A because all composition relationships are taken into account.
Note:
Note that the search result of search mode Cont. indirectly also does not automatically include the result of an analogous search with search mode Cont. directly only. The search for specifications that contain only the specification B with a concentration of >= 9% and <= 11% directly provides the specifications A and C as the result. In contrast, the search for specifications that also contain the specification B with a concentration of >= 9% and <= 11% indirectly provides only the specification C as the result because all composition relationships are now examined and evaluated by the system. The system then determines that the specification B is contained in the specification A with a total concentration of 19% . A is therefore not displayed as a result.
