Definition

Specifies the unit of measurement for the start point, the end point, and the length.

Use

If you enter a UoM for the start point, end point, and the length on the selection screen, the values in the result list are converted to and displayed in the UoM entered.

If you leave this field empty, the system displays all data in the UoM in which the data has been entered. Afterwards, you can use the SAP List Viewer functions to search for or filter specific UoMs.

Dependencies

If you enter segment, start point, end point, or length as selection criteria, you must also enter a UoM on the selection screen.

Example

Examples for entering linear data as selection criteria

  • Selection screen: You have not entered any linear data.

    Output list:

    • The system displays all technical objects or maintenance documents with and without linear data.
    • The system displays the start point, end point, and length in the UoM maintained for the technical object or maintenance document (from the database).
  • Selection screen: You have entered a UoM.

    Output list:

    • The system displays all technical objects or maintenance documents with and without linear data.
    • The system displays the start point, end point, and length in the UoM entered on the selection screen.
  • Selection screen: You have entered a start point, end point and/or length, and a UoM.

    Output list:

    • If you enter specific selection values for the start point, end point, and/or length, the system only displays technical objects or maintenance documents with linear data in the results list. The start point, end point, or length of the technical objects or maintenance documents found lies within the ranges entered on the selection screen.
    • If you enter the value "equal to SPACE" for the start point, end point and/or length, the system includes the following technical objects and maintenance documents in the results list:
    • The system displays technical objects and maintenance documents without linear data.
The system displays technical objects and maintenance documents whose linear data lies within the specified selection range.
The system displays the start point, end point, and length in the UoM entered on the selection screen.

Note

You can use the EAML_LINEAR_UNIT parameter ID to get the unit of measurement field automatically filled with a default value, which you can overwrite. To do so, proceed as follows:

  1. In your user profile, enter EAML_LINEAR_UNIT as parameter ID on the Parameters tab page (transaction SU3).
  2. As parameter value, enter a unit of measurement (UoM). Note the following:
    • The UoM you want to use as a default value must be maintained in the Check Units of Measurement Customizing activity.
    • The UoM must have the dimension length.
    • You must enter the UoM in the UoM format defined in the MSEHI field (column Unit in the Check Units of Measurement Customizing activity).
  3. Save your entries.
